My research lies at the intersection of human-computer interaction (HCI) and artificial intelligence (AI). I focus on designing, developing, and evaluating human-centered AI systems that enhance human-AI interaction, improve user experience, and mitigate potential risks. My recent research interests include AI agents, transparency, evaluation, and conversational interactions. I am open to research collaborations with researchers and practitioners. I am currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at Hanyang University ERICA, Ansan, South Korea. Before joining this university, I lived in Boston and worked as a Research Scientist at IBM Research and as an Applied Scientist at Amazon AGI. I received my PhD in Computer Science at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) advised by Brian P. Bailey. My dissertation focused on “Designing a Conversational Agent for Promoting Participation of Under-Contributing Members in a Small Group Chat Discussion.” I earned my Master’s degree in Computer Science from Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) and my Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Korea University (KU).
